Kampa, also spelled Khampa, is a traditional form of dance from the Himalayas and what is now known as Tibet, now modern day China.  This deeply artistic group dance is mesmerizing to watch and listen to and probably even more enchanting to perform.  A very traditional dance, that must have its roots in millenia of history, is sweeping the globe in it's new modernized forms and creating quite a stir for audiences and dance troupes alike.  Here is a small taste of some of what i mean...

 Of course this is an old and traditional dance performed for ages and generations.  Here's how Khampa or Tibetan Circle dance is presented formally.

 This video above may start off slow, but it is an enveloping and mesmerizing trance-zen-dance that ensues bringing waves of frissons and near tears when danced and hummed along with.  So powerful and spiritually uplifting is this music, you can feel it and are drawn in by the dance and intricacies of the movements.

Of course, like any dance, it is performed to a range of paces and tempos.  The pulsing driving rhythm is infectious and the dance is close to what you would see at a rave in the US or Europe.  This is because deep down our tribal hearts are the same across the world.  

Because of the deep trance and brain wave entrainment that is enhanced by the rhythm and the movement, the audience and dancers are lifted into a higher plane of existence while performing and viewing this enigmatic dance.  It is surely a spectacle we will only see more of on the world stage in the future as we are lifted by the power of sound to new levels of societal harmony.
